Barb, it appears that your James Allison, born c1740, could
well be a brother of my Jane Allison, born c1755 who married William Ross, in 1770 in Botetourt Co., Va. I don't have much on these families other than what I listed.
William Ross' brother, Edward Ross, fought at Pt Pleasant,
and he received a land grant in Greene county. He is said
to have married Nancy ?Allison, and they died in Washington
Co., Tenn. near the Greene County line. We have not proved
Nancy's maiden name.
Evelyn
