Hi Gil, It is good to hear from you again. I don't know if you remember me, but we corresponded quite a bit several years back. Thanks for answering my post! I, too, am ready to forget about the "other mother" idea. I have searched for this possibility for so long with no luck. I think Hugh and Polly were probably the children of Catherine {and William Lee Allison} along with the other 7 children. I do think that the bible records are out best bet, and seem to point to Catherine. The naming thing you mentioned - who knows? Unfortunately not everyone named children after their grandparents or it would be simpler. You're right - no challenge, no fun. I believe I know who you're refering to in northwest GA. I corresponded with her for several years and learned a lot from her. Have wondered how her health problem went and if she's well. Haven't heard from her in literally, years. I am still searching out the families of those 9 children of William Lee & Catherine, some with greater success than others. Have you seen the trees on Ancestry where a Thomas Allison is listed as William Lee Allison's father? I wish those contributors had offered sources for their information. I'm big on sourcing. It's great that you were able to do the DNA testing. William and Lucy are on my information, but DNA definitely makes it "a reality" to me. I was thinking, at one time, that William Lee Allison's father was also a William, who was then the son of William married to Lucy. But am wondering if that "middle" William exists. Have been working on the idea that William Lee is the son of William who married Lucy. What do you think? I still don't know about the Ann Gaddis/Goddis mystery. And you're right, if it was easy it wouldn't be as much fun. Glad you're doing well and good to hear from you. Jacquilyn in Arizona Notify Administrator about this message?
