James Allison of Botetourt Co., Va. in 1770

I would like to learn more about James Allison and his
family. I descend from his daughter, Jane:

James Allison's daughter, Jane, born c1755, died in 1827
in Greene Co., Tennessee, and is buried in the Mt. Bethel
Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Greeneville, Tennessee.
Her new tombstone was erected in 1974 and her dates are
incorrect. She married William Ross Sr., son of John Ross
on 29 December 1770 in Botetourt County. William Ross'
father brought his children to America about 1760 and lived
in Delaware about 5 years before getting his land grant in
Virginia on Catawaba Creek near Fincastle and was a neighbor of James Allison. William Ross was born in 1744
in Fermanough Co., Ireland, and died on 27 April 1834 in
Greene Co., Tennessee, age 90. He wrote his sister, Mary
Ross, wife of Richard McDonald of York Co., Pa., that his
life long companion, Jane, had died. He is buried next to
his wife, Jane. He married 2nd, 16 April 1829, Polly Penny,widow, and wrote his Will on 19 July 1831 in Greene
County. He served in the Revolutionary War from Virginia
as a Teamster in the U.S. Army, in North Carolina and was
at Cornwallis' Surrender at Yorktown, Virgnia, and carried
the British prisoners to Fredericksburg, then he went home.
He and Jane moved to his military land grant in Greene County in 1784. They had the following children:

1: a daughter, married....Moore. She had a daughter, Jane.

2: Betsy, died by 1831, married 23 Feb 1808, Thomas Batt,
and had 3 daughters: Jane, Malinda, Elizabeth.

3: Margaret "Nancy", died in 1836 in Shelby Co., Tennessee. She married (1) George Kyle on 15 March 1798,
(2) Benjamin Duncan on 1 December 1812. She had 3 sons and
3 daughters. She and Benjamin moved to Limestone, Alabama,
in 1822, then they moved to Shelby Co., Tennessee, in 1834.

4: John Harvey, born 28 September 1775, died 10 April 1848
in Greene County, married, 8 January 1794, Rebecca Carter,
daughter of John Carter Sr., and widow of Capt. John Hardin, who was killed by Cherokees on Lookout Mtn, Tenn.
in 1793. They are buried in The Carters Station Cemetery
at Albany, Greene Co., Tennessee.

5: Jane, born 20 July 1780, died 25 January 1863, buried
in Mt Bethel Presbyterian Cemetery in Greeneville. She
married, Joseph Bullen (1783-1865), on 15 March 1803.

6: Grace, born 12 May 1787, died on 24 February 1826, married, John Stewart Reed, on 28 February 1803.

7: William Jr., born 11 August 1790, died 13 September 1865, buried in Mt Bethel Cemetery. He married Margaret
"Peggy" Gass, daughter of John Sr., on 29 December 1813.

8: Mary "Polly", married John Graham, on 26 October 1826.

9: James Allison, born in 1800, married (1) Anna Ball, on
5 December 1832. He married (2) Eleanore James, on 12 February 1846. He and his wives are buried in the Mt. Bethel Presbyterian Cemetery. James received his father's
plantation and personal property.
