Hi Greg,

My Allison ancestors lived in Orange Co., NY in the 1700s and 1800s. Then they moved to Ohio and on to Iowa in the middle 1800s. In the early 1900s my grandfather Allison moved to Parker, Turner Co., SD. It looks like our Allisons made the same westward migration route, but I'm not familiar with a Charles Allison in my line.

However, some members of my Allison family, not of my direct line, did move farther north in NY before migrating west. We might be related. :-)

If you have a male relative who has the ALLISON surname, he could join the Allison/Ellison DNA Project. There are now 16 Allison and Ellison men in the DNA Project whose DNA scores are very similar to my brother's DNA score. If the DNA score of a male Allison relative of yours matched my brother's DNA score, you'd have much more info about your Allison line.

All the best,

Mary Allison Yonan
