Hi Michael --

As I already mentioned, I have done VERY LITTLE Allison research. This is my SUPPOSITION, based on the fact that I KNOW that my Robert Allison married Catherine Madden in Laurens Co., SC, in the early 1820's:

1. Me
2.... David M. Collier
..... +Betty Jo Ellison, b. 1926, TX, d. 2000, WA
3...... Eli Judson Ellison, b. 1885, MS, d. 1973, CA
....... +Sallye Thrasher McCoy
4........ James Elias Ellison, b. 1858, MS, d. 1930, TX
......... +Mary Jane Sturdivant
5.......... Azariah Allison/Ellison, b. 1825, Laurens Co., SC, d. aft. 1880, MS
........... +Elizabeth Norwood
6............ Robert Allison, b. ca. 1796, Laurens Co.?, SC, d. ca. 1843, TN
............. +Catherine Madden
7.............. Unknown
............... +Unknown
8................ Prob. Robert Allison, of Laurens, SC, and his first wife
................. +Elizabeth Scott

From here, this line goes back to Dr./Capt. Robert Ellyson, who arrived in MD in 1643. After living for about 12-13 years in St. Marys Co., MD, he was married to Elizabeth Gerrard and living in the James City Co., VA, area. His will was probated in New Kent Co., VA.

With what little I can recall, I think you're right about some of this family passing through western NC. It only makes sense that this family spread from VA through NC, SC, TN or GA. I'm not absolutely sure, but I believe my part of the family came DIRECTLY from Hanover, VA, to Laurens Co., SC, without stopping in the Old Pee Dee or Cheraw Districts of SC (i.e., the "north part" of SC). Laurens Co. lies upon the central part of the western SC border with GA. After this, Robert Allison/Catherine Madden moved, ca. 1830, to Henderson Co., TN, where Robert died. They then moved, ca. 1851-1852, to Itawamba Co., MS, for a couple of years, then to Choctaw/Webster Co., MS, and finally to Calhoun Co., MS, in the 1870's-1880's. The rest, you can gather from above.

The TRUE FACT is that I don't really know enough yet about my own family to substantiate any of my above claims. After Robert Allison/Catherine Madden (which I CAN prove), everything is pure speculation. I have not yet begun to attempt to untangle all of the different ROBERT (!) Allisons who lived at the same time in different places all over SC!

I don't know if this helps you any, or even if I adequately answered any of your questions. If there's anything else I can do, or anything you think I left out, LEMMENO!

Best Regards,

Mike Collier
Oak Harbor, WA
