Hi, y'all I'm not related to the Allisons/Ellisons as far as I know. I came across some genealogical data in Buncombe County, NC deed book 15, pages 135-141 that I thought might help someone, so I copied it. I'll summarize it here. Page 136 - The Isaac Freeman deed that Helen mentions seems to be most significant because it's to Hugh Allison and dated August 5, 1820. By Dec 6, 1823, Sarah Allison is executing deeds in her own name. In the January term of court in 1826, we have: "The assignment and transfer of the annexed deed of mortgage from Joseph Otis to Sarah Ellison now Sarah Skidmore to H. A. Barnard was duly acknowledged in open court by Elijah Skidmore husband of the said Sarah..." Don't know if this is really any help, but thought it should be posted somewhere. I noticed that in one message of this thread, it was mentioned that Hugh Ellison/Allison didn't show up in the census after 1820. Sarah's last name varies from Allison to Ellison and back throughout these deeds. Regards, Dorinda Whitley Notify Administrator about this message?
