The Thomas Ellison who was the son of Asa Ellison (at lease by the postings of others) and who married Olive Cox, son of Solomon Cox and Martha Dixon had four sons: Caleb Ellison, Solomon Ellison, James Ellison and Thomas Ellison Jr. If there are any male descendants out there from these lines, I hope they will participate in the study. Here is what I know about the male descendants of Thomas and Olive

1. Solomon Ellison b. 1810 Knox Co. Ky, moved to Hocking Co. OH before 1820 with parents; He married first, Amy Dixon and had children: William Thomas b. 1828, Thomas b. 1831, Sarah Belle 1833, Olive 1835, Mary 1842, Lydia 1845, and Ananias 1850/51 OH. By 1860 census he was in Dallas Co., MO with wife Ama 50, daughters Mary 18 b. IN, Lydia 14 b. IN, son Ananias 11. He divorced Amy and married Tennessee Gove in 1871[her first marriage was to a Sheldon]. He was was on 1870 census in Iowa with Tennessee [not married to her then, was a laborer living in her household] and her 2 daughters.]
1.A. Solomon's son William Thomas married Sallie Leach in OH, lived in IN, IL and then Jefferson Co. Iowa - he had at least 4 daughters and 2 sons Charles Andrew and William T. Jr. Charles Andrew Ellison had 2 sons Wilbur Delbert and William Scott. b in early 1900's in Iowa.
1.b. Solomons's son Thomas married Drusilla Richardson and had a bunch of kids in IL and IA in the 1860's and 70s: Thomas, William, Augstine, David D.,Joseph, Josephine, Henry, Emma Elizabeth, Leander, and Harvey S.

#2 Caleb Ellison b. abt 1810 in KY or OH, married Amy ? On 1850 US Census Jackson Twp., Vinton Co OH Amy was 40, Jackson 12, Ellen 10, James 9, Eliza J. 7, Biddy 4, William 10 mos.

#3James Ellison b. abt 1820 OH married Doratha, [another posting says he married Rosanna Dikus in 1839] On 1850 US Census of Richland Twp., Vinton Co. OH there is a James Ellison 29 with Doratha 27 and daughters Elizabeth 5, Mary 3, Catherine 1. all b. OH {There is another James Ellison in nearby Bloom, Scioto Co OH age 24 wife Nancy - not Thomas & Olive's son but could be related]

#4 Thomas Ellison Jr. b. abt 1830 OH On 1850 census with his parents, Jackson Twp., Vinton Co OH age 20 married Minerva Peterson. On the 1870 census Taney Co MO with children Thomas and Solomon (twins) 16 b. OH, Eliza 14 b OH, Mary J 12 b. OH., Anna 9 b. MO, Andrew J. and Christina (twins) 6 b. MO,Eizabeth 3 b. MO, Sarah baby b. MO. On the 1880 census he is age 59 in Newton Co ARK with Manerva and daughters Christeny 16, Elizabeth14 and Liddy age 7

Thomas and Olive also had 3 daughters Elizabeth Alice b. abt 1807 Ky; Anna b. abt 1815 OH married Joseph Ankrom and had a son Archibald Ankrom (I come from this line); Sarah b. 1832/33.
With regard to the Archibald and Hugh in Knox Co Ky with Thomas before he moved to Ohio could have Scot names from their mother's side rather than Ellison side. Thomas's parents were Asa Ellison and Elizabeth Kilpatrick or Kirkpatrick. Or, if Hugh and Archibald were Asa's cousins, they could also have gotten a Scots name from their maternal line.
