Hi, I believe we are related! My great grandfather was Archibald V. Allison, son of VanRanslyer (you will find many different spellings of his name in Census reports) I have a Carlylse Allison in my reports born sometime around 1896. VanRanslyer was born Oct 1842 (or 43) in NY. He was the 6th of 7 children to Joseph Allison and either a Malinda or Balinda. Sometime after all the children were born they moved to Wisc. This is where VanRanslyer met Mahala Jones. Mahala Jones was born in May 1854 in Wisc. although her parents Henry and Mary Jones were from TN. Mahala had a brother and a sister, both names after the parents. VanRanslyer and Mahala married Jan 1874 in Wisc. and had 7 children there. My great grandfather Archibald was the 3rd oldest, while your grandfather Carlysle was the youngest. VanRanslyer Allison (spelled Vanrensselear) is in the 1890 Wisc. Veterans Census - Civil War, Union Troops. Being one of the oldest in the family, Archibald was sent off to Nort Dakota, where he met his future wife Mabel Lacey. After having my grandfather Marion V. Allison, they moved to MN where all my family resides except for me. I live in WA. Hope this finds you with some info on our family.
