Your Marshall Allison is probably descended from John Allison (b. Sep. 5, 1765, Rockbridge County, VA) and Anna Gray (b. 1761, Nicholas County, KY). They were among the earliest settlers in northeastern Marion County (Indianapolis), IN. For a number of years, there was a town called Allisonville located in this area that was named after John Allison. It would be hard to imagine your Allison farming in this same area, and not being related somehow.

They had 10 children, including 4 boys: John, David, Charles, William. One of these is probably your Marshall Allison's grandfather. I'm not able to bridge the gap any further for you. If you're able to link up to this line, I can give you a little more information about marriage dates, death dates, and parents.
