********The Joshua Allison "born and reared in the Piedmont of NC" was NOT the Joshua Allison who was the patriarch of the Haywood County Allisons. At the time of the Revolutionary War, the ancestors of the Haywood County Allisons were still living in Charles County, Maryland. (The research material of WC Allen should be used as such...simply a research tool. There are many, many serious inaccuracies in his work as there is to be expected in any work of this kind in the 1930's.)
The first Allison ancestor to leave Liverpool, England bound for the New World has been extremely well documented through out his life, as have been the lives of his descendants. The Allison family historians hold literally thousands of pieces of documentation of the Allison journey from England to Maryland to NC and from there, the world.
The first Joshua Allison in Haywood County, NC was born in Charles County, Maryland about 1785 and arrived in Haywood County in the year 1800 following after about 60 of his kinsmen who migrated south and became the Allison family we know today. He came with his brother Hezikiah Allison who stayed in Haywood County until sometime after the 1820 census and then moved on to Alabama. (reference: Joshuway Aleson and Heziciah Aleson can be found in Haywood County on the census records living 2 households apart on the 1820 census for Haywood County, NC)
Joshua married first, Annie Williams about 1800. Annie was born about 1785 in South Carolina. Among the children of Joshua and Annie Williams Allison were Jason who married Jemima Dotson, William, Nancy Ann who married Brittian Wilson Parton, Hezikiah who moved to Alabama, Aseph who moved to Alabama, Daniel, the only child of Joshua and Annie Williams Allison to remain in Haywood County married Lucinda Henry daughter of Malcolm and Nancy Agnes Smith Henry.
Joshua married second, Nancey C.?? and had daughter Phebe Octava (reference: Will of Joshua Allison I)********
