Please help me out. How would a DNA test connect you, me anyone to Elias LeGarde? He has been dead for almost 350 years and no one knows where his grave is located, thus no DNA from old Elias to compare. The only thing a DNA test would do is connect the Ellegood/Alligood line to a common "unknown" ancestor, who may or may not have been Elias. But wait there is a glimmer of hope in that a DNA test could point us descendants in a common direction. Elias by all accounts was a descendant of a prominent Jewish family (LeGarde)that escaped the Spanish Inquisition into Portugal or eastern France. Maybe DNA came connect Ellegood/Alligood descendants to Jewish ancestors. But then again I don't know if it can. Do you?
