Hello there. Did you ever receive info on William Allgood and Susie Hicks? If so... do you know if they are related to my Ohio Allgood/Denning family? (I'm wondering if your William Allgood and my Allgood are closely connected) Here's my info: Margaret Allgood, b. abt. 1850, we think in Clark Co. Ohio. (I only know of her from the death certificate of her son, William, which lists her name.) She married Hugh Denning b. in Ireland abt. 1850 Their children were: 1.)Mary Denning b. abt 1882 2.)Henry Denning b. abt 1883 3.)William Joseph Denning (my Great Grandfather) b. Oct. 23, 1885 in Clark Co. Ohio d. Jan. 2, 1919 in London, Madison Co. Ohio. buried in St. Patrick's Cemetery, London Madison Co. Ohio. 4.)John Denning b. abt 1888 5.)Joseph Denning b. abt. 1889 (It's hard to believe that they would name two sons so similarly, yet I found in William's obituary, mention that his brother "Joe Denning" came from Oklahoma to be with William and arrived 2 days before he died to be at his side, so it's true.) A friend sent me this info ... which COULD be my Margaret and her parents, but I cannot confirm it: Margaret Allgood born in the late 1840s with parents Robert C. Allgood (b.1811 NC), and Hannah Buckhannon (b.1817 IN). I wonder if your William Allgood could be a brother or cousin of my Margaret Allgood.(With your William being born in 1868, and my Margaret around the late 1840's - 1850) We do have the Ohio connection, so it makes me wonder. Also... (and this is a rabbit trail) Margaret named a child "William", which although it is a common name, could suggest a link, since both the Irish & English had naming traditions that they stuck to pretty faithfully as a rule. (there is evidence that some of the Allgoods came to Ireland from England and intermarried - which was very common practice at that time) This William was her second son, which, if you go by the name traditions, would most likely mean he was named for HER Allgood family line, and not her husband's Denning line. (The FIRST son would be named for the Husband's family) This isn't Science, but it proves a useful tool sometimes. Just a random thought. Let me know if you have gotten any further in your research on William and know whether we could be connected. I haven't found a lot of Allgoods in Ohio. ~Janeen Notify Administrator about this message?
