PLEA re Father of Barnett Holloway Allgood!!

I have been involved in researching the Allgood family - particularly that of Barnett Holloway Allgood - for over 20 years. I continually see postings that his ancestor was Ishmel/Ishmael Allgood. In all my research I have found no substantiation of this, nor has any other in-depth research that I have read. William Thompson Allgood agrees with this in his book, and this is addressed by Donna Allgood in her message re Father of Barnett Holloway Allgood in her message of April 1, 2002. Research neither disproves nor proves that Ishmel/Ishmael Allgood was the father of Barnett Holloway! I, personally, seriously doubt that this is true. Based on family lore (see Donna Allgood message of April 1, 2002)Frances Allgood was an Irish houseservant who came from Ireland. If her husband was Ishmel/Ishmael Allgood, then that name would have been perpetuated throughout the descendants, as this was very common practice in those days. I have never seen this name one time in the genealogy of Frances. Furthermore, there is quite a difference between the birth of Barnett Holloway and that of DeForrest, younger son of Frances, inferring that each of the sons had a different father. So, my PLEA is that descendants of Fances refrain from using Ismel/Ishmal as the husband of Fances and the father of her two children. This has been far too widely published on the internet without ANY basis or proof that this is true. Until someone can offer proof positive that Ishmel/Ishmal is the father of Barnett Holloway and/or the husband of Frances, it seems misleading to indicate this without a caveat or proof of such. We do know that Frances Allgood was the mother of both Barnett Holloway and DeForrest, and we know where she is buried; however, there is no real proof that Ishmel/Ishamel Allgood was her husband or the father of these two sons. Again, unless you can provide proof of such, it would seem much more accurate and plausible to refrain from naming Ishmel/Ishmael as such. I agree with Donna Allgood, if anyone DOES have such proof, there are a a lot of researchers that would be very, very, happy to see it.
