Hi Christine, I emigrated from New Zealand to Australia 9 years ago, and return once or twice a year. 3-4 years ago my father took me to historic Cathedral Square in Christchurch, New Zealand. Within the square there are 4 trees, with plaques mounted at the base, representing the fist four pioneer ships to arrive in New Zealand. One of these ships was the Charlotte Jane, which departed Plymouth Sound in September 1850 arriving in Lyttleton Harbour on the 16th of December 1850. Passengers on the ship included: Mr George Allfrey - 43 Mrs Arabella Allfrey - 36 Miss Marian Allfrey - 19 And one Alfred Allfrey - 6 years old. I am wandering if this could be the same Alfred Allfrey that you refer to in your message? I have a copy of the full passenger list if you would like me to e-mail this to you. I have only just begun to build my tree, and would love to find out if there was some sort of connection here. I look forward to your response. Cheers, Mark Allfrey
