Joyce, I'm not an Alley or Harding descendant but have some family connections & information. Mattie Morris Harding was the sister of my grandmother Coburn Morris Baggett. Lettie Abercrombie Harding was the sister of my grandfather Seawright Baggett's first wife, Lila Abercrombie (no children). Isabelle Alley, 1857-1940, was a daughter of P.A.C. (Augustus) Alley, 1823-1888, buried at Bethel Church, Brownsville, Paulding Co., with wife Sarah A. (Mehaffey), 1829-1893. P.A.C. Alley is shown on the 1850 census of Habersham County, Ga., as a son of William W. Alley: no. 49 William W. Alley (blind) 63 N.C. Martha 62 N.C. P.A.C. 25 blacksmith S.J. Putnam 17 N.C. spinster. William W. Alley was a justice of Inferior Court (county commissioner/judge)of Habersham County in 1837. Also in Habersham Co. in 1850 were these Alleys: no. 24 William C. Alley 37 NC; no. 40 Robert F. Alley 30 NC; no. 39 S.H.J. Alley 33 NC blacksmith. The Alleys of north Georgia were fond of multiple first names. In Walker County, Ga., the 1850 census shows this family: no. 369: M.N.B.J.H. Alley 32 N.C., Nancy E. 25 N.C., Harry C. 7, Sarah S.E.M.R.E.W.D. 5, Frederic A.A. 3, unnamed male 10 months, Caroline Gray 11. There are still Hardings in Douglasville, but I seriously doubt any of them know any of their ancestry going back past W.J. and Margaret Austin Harding.
