David Jesse Alley, Scott Co, VA ca 1900

I am searching for any information on my great(3)grandfather, David Jesse Alley of Scott County, VA. He was born Dec 1833, was a preacher and served in the 64th VA Mounted Infantry, CSA during the Civil War. He was married to Mary/Polly (Williams) Templeton, widow of Thomas C. Templeton. In the 1880 Federal census for Scott County, he appears in the Floyd District as follows:
David J. Alley 47, farmer, Mary 47, nee Williams, Nancy J. 17, my great(2)grandmother
Isaac P. 16, David B. 14, Sarah C. 11, Thomas J. 9, Abijah 6, Emily M. 3
Lloyd C. 5/12 (February)

In the 1900 Scott County Federal census he appears in the Taylor District, household/family number 106 as follows: David J. (Dec 1833) 66 farmer, Polly (July 1833) 66, Thomas J. (Mar 1872) 29, Loyd C. (Dec 187?) ??, Martha V. Pendleton (Oct 1888) 11 granddaughter. Per the census info, they've been married 43 years, had 11 kids, 8 are still alive, he owns his own farm, its mortgaged, and appears in schedule 95. He also lives next door to son-in-law William B. Pendleton and daughter Nancy J. (my great(2)grandparents) and their family Docia, Hampton, Emma (my grandmother) and David (Wrightly).

Any info on David J., wife Mary/Polly or any of his children would be most welcome. His death date, and where he is buried are 2 major mysteries for me. I'm happy to exchange information.
