Jack, I found it more quickly than I expected. It was a deed on Nov. 7, 1797 from Aby, Christian to Samuel Myers of land on Cuttacole Creek, a branch of James River, which was recorded in the old deeds of Montgomery County, VA. If you recall Virginia history, county lines changed a lot as new counties were created, and the Alley family's records thus sometimes went from one county label to another without even moving. Regarding the other information I mentioned on James L. Alley, Sr., Azby's husband, it was in the Williamsburg Gazette.
