Hi,

I don't have any information on your search, but I do have some questions regrding the ALLEY and MARTIN surnames in Marion, Iowa. Please refer to the following marriage:

Husband First Name: THOMAS W.
Husband Last Name: MARTIN
Wife First Name: MELISSA L.
Wife Last Name: ALLEY
Married:
Date: 03/18/1857
County: Marion
State: IA

I'm trying to locate the siblings and parents of my great grandmother, Catharine Burke (nee Martin) in Iowa. And I don't know if Thomas W. Martin is one of Catharine's siblings. Catharine was b. c. 1826, poss. County Antrim, Ireland. I show one brother, Francis (Frank) Martin, b. c. 1824, Ireland.

Catharine Martin married Michael John (M.J.)Burke/Burk, SEP 16, 1850, St. Raphael's Catholic Cathedral, Dubuque, Dubuque, Iowa. In the 1850 census they are residing in Butler Township, Jackson county, Iowa.

M.J. Burke and his wife, Catharine, moved to Johnson county, Kansas c. 1858. M.J., Catharine, and her brother, Frank, are all buried at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Olathe, Johnson county, Kansas.

Michael John Burke was born JAN 1, 1812, Kilcolgan, County Galway, Ireland, He emmigrated to Iowa in 1848. M.J. was a Government Land Surveyor in IA & MN, c. 1848-1858 and in Kansas from c. 1858/9-1870's.

If anyone has information on Melissa L. ALLEY & Thomas W. MARTIN in Iowa, please feel free to write me off list.

Thank you.
