We are cousins. Reason never ? where Walter was born as Jane(Wid) stated she was born in Virginia in 1850 census. I think in 1790 Tn was Southwest Terroritory controlled by NC as TN was part of NC land grants. Back then Smokey mountains blocked NC from pursuing interest and most settlement came from Vir and SC. Since all TN census lost 1790 plus.1790 yet to be Overton was Sumner county and part of it was still Indian lands. 1800 Smith county was created and yet to be Overton was still same. Then Jackson county was created and Overton was created 9-1806 and part of it was in the walker line survey mess with KY. Jackson County records is where Ally was a deputy with Sheriff Totten b4 Overton. Have you search the NC warrants or land grants? We live in TN not far from Marion. If can help email me at ciddddavis@citlink.net.
