I believe I have a copy of the book you refer to. It is titled "Christian Counsel, or ERROR REPROVED" by Samuel Alley, Sen., published in Bloomington, IND. by Z. or S. H.
Kridelbaugh, Printer, in 1846. The book is small, approximately 3 x 4 inches. It belonged to my great, great grandfather, Lewis Blades, who inscribed his name on the inside of the front and back covers. Lewis Blades, of Flat Rock, IN, was a great grandson of Samuel Alley. Lewis Blades' mother was Sallie Alley, whose father was Jonathan Alley, who was Samuel Alley Sr.s oldest son. (I found this information in the book, "Some Descendants of Jonas Halstead and Some Allied Families" by Laura A. Davis Shoptaugh, which my grandmother Wilma Blades used for her DAR application.)
My copy of Samuel Alley's book is a family treasure, and is in delicate condition.
