Do you know of any possible connection of the "Allerton" surname to that of "Ellerton"?
My ggggg.grandfather was "John Elleton", of Albemarle Co., VA.
I don't yet know what year he was born, but his son Richard, my gggg.grandfather was born c1790. Other known siblings of Richard were Micajah, and Prudence.

John Ellerton appeared as a land owner in Albemarle Co., Va., in both 1785 and 1790.
I don't know where he was born or who his wife was.

Thanks for any possible clues to a connection.
