I just figured out that my husband's line is connection to the ALLEN/MATTHEWS/ENGLISH lines in Missouri.
My husband connects to Charity Jane ENGLISH d/o Thomas ENGLISH and Jane (poss WICKER) through the daughter of Charity and William MATTHEWS, Louisa who married (John) William M. ALLEN (1811 - 1878).
Mary Angus ALLEN d/o Louisa and William M. ALLEN, married James Emanuel "Manuel" SLINKARD (1836 - 1907). Their son, Hiram Edward SLINKARD (1866- 1926) married Hannah Elizabeth HAHN (d/o David HAHN Sarah "Caroline" NISWONGER). These are my husband's great grandparents.
I believe John William M. ALLEN (1811, NC -- 1878, MO) had a brother, Henry F. ALLEN as they were living next door in the 1850 Census in Washington Co., IL.
This is probably old information, but I just located it:
Here stood Old Bethel Baptist Church, the first permanent non-Catholic church west of the Mississippi River. Constituted July 19, 1806
with these members:
David GREEN, Pastor;
Thomas ENGLISH, Leaunde GREEN, Jane ENGLISH,
Agnes BALLOU, Thomas BULL, Edward SPEARS,
Anderson ROGERS, John HITT, Clara ABERNATHY,
Catherine ANDERSON, Rebecca RANDOL, Francis HITT,
The Missouri Baptist General Association commemorated with a celebration and the erection of this monument Oct. 24, 1806. What Hath God Wrought!

Any additional information would be much appreciated,
