Allen's of Ferrisburgh VT

Hi All,

All my life I've been told that we're somehow related to Ethan Allen through my great-great-grandfather Ernest Elijah Allen of Ferrisburgh Vt.

Through primary sources I've been able to link Ernest to Henry B. Allen also of Ferrisburgh. These same sources list Obadiah Allen and Ruby Blake as Henry's parents, but that's where I lose the line.

From what I've read, Allens are an old line and are among the founding families of Ferrisburgh. One of the first settlers was an Obadiah Allen. I've found that Henry B. served in the civil war along with an Obadiah, the son of William and Lucretia Allen. Since Henry B. and Obadiah were within a few years of each other and mustered into the army on the same day from the same town, I'm guessing they must have been cousins.

I'm hoping someone can help me fill in the blanks. Does anyone have information on the Allens of Ferriburgh VT? Particularly before 1835, when Henry B. was born. I have no birth information on Henry's father Obadiah, just a line in a couple of marriage documents.

Thanks
-Bob
