I can give you a definite MAYBE on that one.
Several years ago, a group of us started researching Zachariah Allen, having found two of them. Our goal was to connect the two families together because a common given name might indicate such a relationship.
Now, we have SEVEN Zachariah Allens b. in the 18th Century and one born in the 17th Century. We've tied a few of them together, but haven't yet achieved the original goal.
Our research has turned up as many questions as answers.E.g., Erasmus Withers Allen, whose uncle was one of the original Zachariahs, lived in Rowan County, NC with neighbors including Bryant, Boone, Chapman (including a son in law) and his Waggener cousins. You'd think the Thomas Allen who married Margere Bryan would be his son. There is indications Thomas and MArgere lived for a time in Maury County.
But, the Zachariah Allen who was born in Orange County and moved to IL, is recorded as stating Thomas Allen/Margere Bryan was his "brother"So, if Thomas came from across the state, how did he meet his wife?
Also, there is no Thomas listed in Zachariah Allen's will in NC in 1790.The Zachariah is proven to be the father of the Zachariah making the statement.
Basically, we haven't yet tied the Erasmus Withers Allen line to the Zachariah Allen line in Orange County, NC.
Do you have a Zachariah Allen ancestor?
