Hello David /Maureen ,
Unfortunately I do not think I have any family connections with Wetherby .You are right about the different spellings of the surname ,I have found about 20 different ways of spelling the surname Allemby /Allenby etc. etc. .In fact on the 1901 census ,my ancestors had 3 different spellings in the same family in Barnsley !!!! Of course this was all down to registars wrote down what they thought as many could not read or write all those years ago .My ancestor James Allenby ( or similar ) born about 1800 came from County Durham and /or North Yorkshire to Barnsley around 1837 and many of us still live in the area .Some went to West Yorkshire and a few distant relatives live in the Hull and Lincoln areas but alas not in Wetherby (but you never know!!! )

My findings are on Genesreunited and-my e - mail is
allemby@blueyonder.co.uk

All the best ,Dave Allemby ,Barnsley
