Does anyone information about John Allardyce (sic - Allardes), Provost of Aberdeen (SCO), born 1656-7, who m.1 Agnes MERCER in Aberdeen 1683, and m.2 Jean SMART in Aberdeen 1703. He d. 25 May 1718.
I have his parents as John "the Elder" ALLARDYCE (who d. 1699) and Isobel WALKER.

What little information I have was drawn from "Chalmers of Balnacraig" by Munro, into which family Provost Allardyce's decendants connect. vis - dau. Christian m. Rev James Trail of Greyfriars & then Montrose, their dau Sussanna m. James Chalmers, publisher, of Aberdeen. Some detail were also gleaned from memorial inscriptions at St. Nicholas, Aberdeen, where the surname was spelled ALLARDES. His portrait in the Aberdeen Townhouse (City Council Building) has the name spelled ALLARDYCE.

Any sort of information about Provost John Allardyce, his ancestry or any other information or references would be much appreciated.

G.D. Ingram - Australia
