You have your dates all wrong. New Jersey was not settled by Europeans until the 1620's. New Jersey was part of New Netherlands(1623) Seized by England 1664 and renamed New York The Algers (Alligers) of northern New Jersey and adjacent areas of Pennsylvania and New York state are descended from Mathew and James Alger, sons of John Alger and his 2nd wife Mary of Lyme, Connecticut.
