Looking for the parents, and ancestry, of Silas W. Alger (b: 1814 in Albany County, NY d: 1886 in Fly Creek, NY). He was my 3rd great-grandfather. During the 1850 census he was living in Fly Creek, Otsego County, NY, and listed as a wagon maker. His wifle's name was Catherine Oakley. Two of their sons, Eugene and Freeman, served in the Civil War (both died as a result of the war). Any information of the parents and ancestry of Silas W. Alger would be greatly appreciated.
