From The Seattle Times Sunday April 22, 2007 Complete obit. No photo. CAPTAIN DAVID M. ALGER David M. Alger, 90, a resident of Mercer Island died on Saturday, 14 April, 2007. He was born in New Bern, North Carolina on 21 July, 1916, the son of JAMES and MARJORIE ALGER. David attended Franklin High School in Seattle, WA and the University of Virginia. On December 8, 1941, he joined the United States Coast Guard, rising to the rank of Captain and retiring as the Chief of Staff of the 13th Coast Guard District Seattle, WA. David is preceded in death by two loving wives, DORIS and AMY. Survived by his son, DAVID of Anacortes (WA) ad his two daughters, ASHLEY and APRIL; daughter, KAREN SCHNEIDER of Half Moon Bay, CA; daughter, MARJORIE of Anchorage, AK and her children, JORDANNA, JARED and LEVI. David was well known in the Seattle waterfront community and proud of his involvement in the VFW on Mercer Island and the USO at Seatac Airport. He will be missed by his family and friends that knew him. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, 27 April, 2007, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 4400 - 86th Ave SE, Mercer Island, WA.
