Alger / Algar - East Malling, Kent, England

In November 2001, I placed a post trying to find more information about my gr-gr-grandfather Henry Alger, ("Henry Alger - England to Australia").

Until now, it has been quite frustrating, as I have not advanced much since then, at least not until now. As the result of information from the 1841 and 1851 censuses, I now believe that Henry may be the grandson of Russell and Ann Algar, who had at least nine children between 1792 and 1808, (including three sons, Thomas, James and William), and who were all christened in East Malling, Kent, England.

I am not sure which of the three sons is Henry's father, or indeed whether there is another son who has not yet been identified, (I had believed from vague information that Henry's father was also 'Henry', but that is far from certain).

I am hoping another researcher of the Alger / Algar name with a connection with East Malling or surrounding areas may have some relevant information, and of course I am happy to share information.

Ian Alger
Melbourne, Australia
