My 3x greatgrandfather was Nathan ALGER who married Susannah KING. I don't have his birthdate. Susannah was the daughter of John KING and Lois KNIGHT. They were from RI. I have found, thanks to Cindy WALCOTT another family in VT that matches the family Susannah and Nathan had in the Chestertown, N.Y. area.
Nathan m. Susannah, she was born circa 1823,d.March 26, 1846, they had Albert, born circa 1840, my 2x greatgrandmother, Mary Jane, born,1843, and George W., born Sept 2,1844. references: Town of Chester census 1855 and George's Civil War record.
Another record in Vt. shows Nathan ALGER born 1820 in VT- parents Nathan ALGER and Permelia LAWRENCE- wife:Marcia- the children and their dates are basically the same as the ones we have in N.Y. Am wondering if Nathan married again after Susannah died and they moved (back) to VT. Do you know anything about this line? Have you ever heard of any Native American blood in this line? It is rumored to be there in our family.
