A challenge to ALFREY Researchers: Can you help?
Hi there
I am very much in need of help from other ALFREY researchers.
The information that I have on this family comes apparently from several sources originally and the ONLY copy I have of the family tree was written over 20 years ago by a family member that is apparently now deceased- so I cannot ask questions of that person. One of the major problems is how it is written- on two pages with with multiple added on bits here and there, making reading it as easy as MUD!!! Sigh……..
The first three generations: starting with my brother-in law (its his family line) are confirmed and have documentation for-
and after that is my problem.
The previous family researcher tied this family to the ALFREY’s of Gulledge, East Grinstead, Sussex, England.
The connections are NOT clear and concise and the I have NOT found documentation to prove this connection. At this point I cannot even get the connection to work right!
So what I thought to do was this:
I will list in order- starting with the present generation to the last ancestor we have listed.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE
If you have ANY data to prove or Disprove these connections- I would be profoundly grateful>
ANY help would be most appreciated=- thank you
1) Walter Kendrick ALFREY- son of
2) Walter Miles ALFREY & Wanda FAY – son of
3) Henry Walter ALFREY & Kate (possibly MILES) UNKNOWN
son of
The above are CONFIRMED- the next is possibly correct but not confirmed
4) John William ALFREY & UNKNOWN son of
5) Arthur ALFREY & Emily SCOTT
This is where the questions begin- as Henry Walter MIGHT be son of
Or 4) Richard ALFREY & Ann PENFOLD with John being brother to Arthur (as I said the papers are really unclear) Richard appears to be son of
or 5) Henry ALFREY & Susannah Unknown who appears to be son of
6) Henry ALFREY & Sarah Unknownwho appears to be son of
7) Nicholas ALFREY &Henrietta HOLMANwho appears to be son of
8) Edward ALFREY (1621?) & Amy UNKNOWNwho appears to be son of
9) Edward ALFREY (1598) & Susan BLAKERwho appears to be son of
10) Edward ALFREY (1579) & Hester BYSSHE who appears to be son of
11) Edward ALFREY & Anne (FORSTER?) who appears to be son of
12) Edward ALFREY & Johanna BALDWIN who appears to be son of
13) Henry ALFREY (1523) who appears to be son of
14) Eward/Edmund ALFREY who appears to be son of
15) Richard ALFREY (1439) who appears to be son of
16) John son of 17) John son of 18) Johnnes ALFREY
these last three are documented on land records apparently but there is no personal records known-
While it would be really neat if this was accurate; I sincerely do not believe all of it is: my biggest concern being generation 4 & 5 and the lack of documentation/ corraboration on these people.
I am hoping there is someone out there who can shed some light on my challenging problem
Thank you
RJ
