Tom,

I am a descendent of the Walton/Holmes/Geneva County Alfords and have done alot of research. I can help on this one. Emma E. Alford is the daughter of William H. Alford, brother of Turner Alford and son of Job Alford. William H. was born in 1826 in Upson County, Ga. and later moved to South Alabama and then Walton to Holmes County. Emma E. (probably names Emma Eliza after her mother Eliza Webb Alford. Emma was one of 5 children born to William and his first wife Eliza Webb ( b. 1831in Elbert County, GA):

1) William Lafayette b. 1849 Coosa Co., Al
2) Mary Indiana b. 1850 Coosa Co., Al
3) Emma b. 4/12/1852 Coosa Co.,
4) Alice B. b. 1854 Coosa Co., Al.
5) James Thomas b. 1857 Pike Co., Al.

In the mid 1860s William H. and his third wife Samantha moved to Walton County, Florida, where William H. lived next to his brother, Turner, and became the first minister of Limestone Baptist Church. By 1880 William H. Alford had moved his family to the Lake Cassidy area of Holmes County, Florida. I assume Emma and her husband moved there also to follow Mr. Alford.

Can you please send me any info you have on Emma's siblings and the rest of her children?
Do you know her marriage date? I would guess arounf 1869 in probably Walton County.

PS. William had other children by his other two wives.

John Rogers
