Dear Delcie,
I am the VP of the Alford American Family Association. We are studying TX Alford and Alfred families this year in preparation for our annual meeting this October in San Antonio. We consider ALFRED an alternate spelling of ALFORD and have known instances of Alfords who started spelling their name the other way.
Could you give me your address (can send it to my e-mail address instead of posting it on this forum if you want to) and I will send you the information we have on David Alfred's family in Houston County. Maybe you can add to what we have and maybe we can give you information you don't have. I am sorry to say that we don't yet know anything about David Alfred's parents.
Did Annie Alford remarry after her divorce from Frank Alford? She is listed in the 1900 census (living back with her parents) as being divorced. We have some information on Mayfield's descendants but I am sure you could straighten out some of our confusion since he had so many children.
AAFA would really appreciate any help you could give us. We have two members who are descendants of this family and don't really have details on many of the branches other than theirs.
