Seeking a connection between the family of Julius ALFORD (age 51, b. GA) and Lewis McDOWELL (age 27, b. LA) neighbors on the Sabine Parish LA 1850 census. Daughter Elizabeth Jane McDOWELL listed as "Jane" on census. Salina (Sabina?) McDOWELL (age 21, b. AR) may have died in LA; later records show wife's name to be Amelia/Emeline (b. 1828 LA).

McDOWELL family moved to Williamson County, TX @1853. Daughter Elizabeth Jane McDOWELL (b. 1849 LA) married James Alford DYKES (b. 1844 TX, d. 1879, TX) in Williamson County, TX, in 1864.
