In Reply to: Winfield Alford of Gonzales Co., Texas by Rogers, John A. of 3047

I descend from Winfield Alford's brother Hatch, each of whom had a daughter marrying brothers, William and John Marion Green. I have these children for Winfield and his 1st wife Eliza Derrington:

WINFIELD ALFORD, b. 9 Mar 1804 or 3 Jan 1804, d. 30 June 1877, Gonzales Co., TX, bur. beside his 1st wife, Thompsonville Ceme., near Waelder, Gonzales Co.; md. 1st Elisa Derrington from Tennessee, b. 16 May 1809, d. 8 Feb 1867. Md. 2nd Mrs. C. Garner, 30 July 1868. Md. 3rd, Elizabeth Blackburn, 21 Apr 1872.
Winfield died intestate. Heirs named in the administration of his estate were his daughter E. Amanda Green one-third; three children of his daughter Eboline Green Piland one-ninth each: D. W. Piland, M. W. Bowen, and J. L. King; the widow of Abraham J. Alford, Mrs. Johnnie Blackman one-twelfth; and their son Clarence Alford one-fourth. Mentioned elsewhere in the estate was A. J. and Johnnie's son Winfield Alford who must have died between 1878 and 1888.

E. Eboline Alford, b. ? , d. 1880 in an asylum; md. Jesse Piland, a minister. Ch:
1. D. W. Piland
2. M. L. Piland, md. Mr. Bowen
3. J. L. Piland md. Mr. King.

Am compiling book on this, my dad's family and hope to gather more descendants. Winfield stated in his Republic of Texas Pension application that he was born Franklin Co. NC. His father was Isaac Alford, mother's name some say was Mary but no documentation. She was alive when he received Headright certificate in TX 1839 for 640 ac (a married man's allotment), don't know when she died.
