The logical place to start looking is the 1900 Red River TX census, see what Alfords were in the county, hope you find one with a child of the name you're looking for. Also you can read the taxlist microfilm for Red River County. It's available in Austin at State Archives, also available in Dallas Public Library - where do you live?
