Michael --

I don't have a Julius Harmon Alford, but I have a William Harmon Alford (b. 1823) and a Julius Newton Alford (b. 1838). They were brothers; both were sons of Edwin Alford (1792-1878) and Martha "Patsie" Smith (1802-1861). The family lived in Pike County, Mississippi.

Edwin Alford had an older brother, Needham J. Alford, who married Martha Waddell and probably had a family, but I don't know much about them. The similarity of names suggests a close link; perhaps that was it.
