I am looking for information about my gr grandfather. He went by the name of Willis Hansford Folks(1847-1924). He married California Crowder(1851-1932) in Dec. of 1874 in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana.
The reason I am posting under the Alford forum is because of a family legend concerning my gr grandfather Willis. It is told, Willis's born surname was Alford. That he had some kind of run-in with the law and changed his name to Folks or went to live with a family named Folks. Either way, he began using the Folks name and all of his decendents have done the same.
In reading this forum, I came across postings about a Hansford Alford. So very close to what I am searching, that I decided to see if anyone knows anything about my Willis.
