On my mother's side, the THOMPSON family, I have a father and son who both disappear from the family record in Australia. Thomas James was my mother's grandfather and James was his father. Thomas James left his young family in the Tamworth district about 1908 and his wife filed for divorce in 1920. We don't know where he went, although there are strong suggestions his sisters' families may have known. They included LORIMERs and BRADBURYs. Thomas was said by one of them to have died around the time of WW2 but we don't know exactly when, or where, or if he had even changed his name. His father James was left with a large family of young children when his wife died young, two weeks after giving birth to their seventh child in 1879 in Tamworth. Marriage certificates for some of his children indicate he was dead before 1900 but again I don't know when or where. Perhaps someone if able to give me even a snippet of information that might lead me to one or both of these men.
