I do show Ambrose in the Census of Ridgeville OH 1850 w/parents Oliver (VT 55yr)& Elizabeth (PN 51? yr). Ambrose's death certificate lists his parents as Jacob (VT) & Mary (Mairly? hard to read. From PN). His son's name is also Jacob. According to his obituary, he was born 7-24-1833 in Pennsylvania, m. Orra Lent (Parents William of Canada and Laura of CT)in 1858 ("to this union were born eight children), and d. April 10, 1910. Though he moved to Leroy Twp in 1884 (where he m. Ella Mason who bore him 2 children), he served as a fife in Michigan's 9th Infantry, enlisting June of 1862.

His children, as listed in census of 1860 -Augusta MI are: Jacob 7 OH, William 5 OH, Oliver ? MI, Charlie 1 MI. (hmmm...some of those kids were born before the marriage).

The Wayne Co. Census of 1880 (still w/wife Orra) lists his children as: Charles 21 MI, Laura 17 MI, Ella 14 MI, Emma 7 MI, Ambrose 6 MI.

Ingham Co. Census of 1900 shows wife Ella (b. OH July 1896)and children: Ida M. 13 MI, Leuman 11 MI.

Jacob Alford m. Francis Wygant 1880. Their children were Minnie, Hattie, Laura, Maude, Olive, Alice, Mable, and Theron, Bernice, Lillian, William. Also show Alta)

Mable Alford b. April 10, 1895 m. Alfred Wills 1915, and died April 19, 1985. Her children were Beth, Alfred, Darwin, Burton, and Roger.
