This is probably something you already have from Vesta, since Jare had sent it to me in 1992:
"Joel/Joseph Walter ("Joe") Brightwell was probably the son
of either Samuel or William Brightwell,
sons of John C. Brightwell,
brothers of Martha Brightwell Alford."
His wife, Annie Alford, was the daughter of George Washington and Mary J(ane?) Vanhoy Alford. George W. was the son of Thomas Jefferson and Frances Richardson Alford.
I am a descendant of Thomas Jefferson Alford and his first wife, Frances Richardson, whose younger brother married
Mary L. Brightwell, Martha Rice Brightwell's oldest sister.
This may not help you, but I will try to send you anything I have that might help. My grandmother's mother was a daughter of T.J. Alford, and some of the information I have is from my grandmother and from her cousin Lillian Smith Barr, who fits in somewhere, but I didn't get that onto the computer, so I will have to relocate it.
