Doris,

I think we have data on your Alford family. If they lived in Scott/Smith County area and if Arthur had siblings named Lod Samuel, Robert Vincent, Lilla, Arrie, Effie and Edgar then the parents were:

James Thomas Alford b. Nov 15, 1861 in Scott County and died there Mar 25, 1945. He married Mary Ella Rhodes born Dec 22, 1865 died Sep 23 1951. James is buried (maybe Mary Ella too) in Homewood Cemetery in Scott Co.

We can trace this Alford line on back through Julius, Spire, Brittain to Isham. If we can firm up a connection for Isham then we can go on back to Lodwick and James getting your Alfords to 1600's in Virgina.
