Moses,
Don't know of an Ambrose whose father was Jacob Alford. The only Ambrose I find in our genealogy files from MI was born 1833 and we have his parents as Oliver Alford and Betsey E. Mallory, who married 1816. They were from VT but were related to the MA Alfords who went to Portage Co. OH. Is this where he married Orra Lent? I would have to check the files to figure out exactly how he relates to those Alfords but they all go back to Benedict who came from England about 1630 or so.

Let's compare information and sources and see what we can resolve. I don't know if we have much about his Civil War service. Did he get a pension?

There is no wife nor children in our files so we would be most happy to have any information you have to share.
