Can Aleksa/Alexa be from Aleksis/Alexis
I try to find out my roots. Some of my relatives say our surname was changed from Aleksis to Aleksa and that my decendants lived in Lithuania. I live in Belarus, which is not far from Lithuania, so it could be true. But I do not have any official evidence to this assumption. Please help cos I can't continue the research!!! Some useful information: My ggrandfather's name was Grigory Aleksa and he married a Polish girl Rosia Mazurkevich (end XIX - beginning XX), unfortunately I do not know where he came from and where he lived.
Thanks!!!
