Roger Alexander:

I just came across your posting and noted Huntley, Carleton County. My ancestor, Andrew Alexander, from Donagheady, Co. Tyrone, along with his brothers, emigrated to Huntley Twp. Carleton County (now Ottawa, Ontario, Canada) in the 1820's. Andrew married Mary Shannon of Killeshandra, Co. Cavan in Huntley in 1827.

Other information:

William married Jane Thompson
Robert married 1. Mary Lyttle (1830); 2. Jane Nesbitt
Thomas married 1. Mary Graham (1824); 2. Jane Boyd;(1844)

There is another Thomas married Eliz Doherty (1836).

As the Alexander`s in this area are primarily my family I would think there could be a connection with your William. Perhaps a cousin. Emigration patterns usually were to family members or friends.

The surname Culbert is very close to my ancestress, Mary Colbert who married John Mulligan, however they were from Co. Cavan, Ireland.

I will check our Census records to see if I can obtain any information about William and Jane.

Look forward to hearing from you. Regards, Barbara Owens
