I found this after reading your posting, don't know if it will be of any help, but who knows.

L. Dowe Alexander,
born 1836 Buncombe, N.C.
died 10/Feb/1864.

Could this be bro. of William Perry Alexander? All you gave were initials.

b. abt.1832. = d. unk.
married= 03/Nov/57 Mecklenburg Co.,N.C.
Susan P. Griffith
b. abt.1836

Is this your Wm. Perry?
