Winnie,

I ran across some info that you may be interested in:

1930 US Census, O'Neal, Greenville County, SC, ED 23-72, Sheet 3B, 4 Apr 1930: Joe E. Alewine, 71, a widower, daughters Carrie, 36 and Irene, 33. Joe was 24 when he married [abt. 1883]. Note: Ancestry.com indexes him as Joe "C". Transcription error, should read Joe E.

Greenville County Library has his and his wife Addie's obituaries on file. Copies cost $5:

J. E. Alewine, age 80, Greenville News, 25 Jul 1939, p. 3.

Addie S. Alewine, Greenville News, 16 Oct 1920, p.2, Enoree.

Both death certificates are available from the Greenville County Library for $5 each:

Joseph E Alewine, 80, born abt. 1859, died 24 Jul 1939,
Greenville County,Certificate Number: 10009

S A Mrs. Alewine, 47, born abt. 1873, died 15 Oct 1920, Greenville, Certificate Number: 18624

The Greenville County Library's SC room can help you: (864) 242-5000.

Hope this is useful.

-Bill
