Alessi Family Genealogy Forum

Dear Andrea,
I have Alessi relatives in Sicily. One of them has done the research for the Alessi family tree that I had mentioned going back to the mid 1700s. He had actually traveled to the Town of San Cataldo, Caltanissetta, Sicily, in order to view the civil records and the church records. The Mormon Family History Center has microfilmed the records of this town. (www.familysearch.org) At one point I had asked the same question about the origins of the name from my Alessi relatives in Sicily and they too had mentioned the possible Russian connection. But, I don't know for sure. How are you going about trying to get the records of your great-grandfather Giuseppe? I noticed that there is a Town called Rimini which is located in the Province of Rimini, Regione Emilia-Romagna. Have you written to the Town? If there aren't too many Alessi names in the Italian White Pages telephone directory (on-line), why not try writing to some of them? You probably would need to furnish enough information, so that the reader might be able to make a connection. I have done this successfully in two cases. If you decide to do this, most importantly, include your email address in your letterhead. I once received an email response within a week of mailing my letter to Italy. Good luck,
Bette
