Hi Bette,
My name is Andrea Alessi-Saunders and I am interested in any information regarding the Alessi's around the world, but especially our origins, which I believe are mainly in Italy, although I have read in this Forum that it might have started as 'Aleski' back in Russia.
You say you have information of over 300 years, now that sounds as far as I would never have dreamt to get! All I know is my Grandfather Virgilio was born in Rimini in 1905, and although him and all his direct relatives emigrated to Argentina during WWI, there are still plenty of Alessis in Rimini at the present date.
I have never been in touch with anybody in Italy, but I am currently trying to get hold of records of my great grandfather Giuseppe, his parents and even further back, although it seems quite a tricky task. I believe the further back we search in our own families (information that has been passed on from generation to generation, the closer we will discover we all are!
I'll be checking this space in case you reply to my message.
Best regards,
Andrea
P.S: I will be posting the info I'm after, see if there's any matching records amongst yours.
